WATER UTILITIES

 

 

WATER SUPPLY SECTION
The Water Supply Section is responsible for supplying 17,500 A.F. of water for domestic use and fire protection, maintaining an average pressure of 65 psi and providing quality water to comply with Health Department and E.P.A. requirements, regulations and standards. This is accomplished by maintaining 29 well sites (21 active wells) and 3 Metropolitan Water District (MWD) connections.  

WATER DISTRIBUTION SECTION
The Water Distribution Section is responsible for the maintenance and repair of 300 miles of water mains, 23,000 service line connections, city owned backflow devices and 1450 fire hydrants. They also are responsible for the installation of all new service lines, fire services, fire hydrants and water mains.

CUSTOMER SERVICE SECTION
The Customer Service Section is responsible for reading and maintaining 23,000 water meters. They are also responsible for turning meters on or off for new or closed accounts, non-payment of water bills and for residents to make plumbing repairs. They also hand out delinquent bill notices, shut-off notices for repair work and the investigation of reported leaks.

WATER PROGRAM SUPPORT
The Water Program Support Section manages the water system assuring efficient operation and high quality water by administrating the water quality monitoring and testing program, backflow prevention program and maintenance, construction and development
of the system.
