This section is
responsible for The City’s 12 parks, landscape medians, street
trees, and misc. landscape areas such as along freeway sound walls,
and in public rights-of-way.

Park Maintenance: is currently contracted out
to a private landscape company for all routine
maintenance such as mowing, weed removal, trash
pick up and irrigation system monitoring. City
Staff is responsible for renovating the ball
diamonds, overseeing athletic fields, performing
irrigation system repairs and completing any
special project work in preparation of special
events held in the parks such as "kids
day", summer concerts and youth sport
activities. This crew has also been responsible
for major park improvements such as recent
renovations at Crawford, Golden and the Library
entrance.
This crew is also responsible for removing
litter and cleaning up the bus benches and trash
receptacles throughout the City.

Accomplishments during the last year include:

Installed a new irrigation system on the
softball field at Columbus School,.

Leveled and renovated the playing fields at
Rio San Gabriel Park.

Trimmed 4,027 parkway trees.

Planted 212 parkway trees.

Renovated the baseball diamonds at Furman
Park.

Renovated the entrance planters around the
parking lot at Dennis the Menace Park.
-
Replaced 26 damaged BBQs in park facilities.
-
Renovated the turf area between the tennis
courts and basketball court at Furman Park.
-
Installed new landscaping and irrigation
along a portion of the Adoree Sound wall.
-
Installed expanded metal trash receptacles
around the shelters at park facilities.
-
Received certification as a
"Tree City ".
