The Central Garage
is responsible for the care and maintenance of all
City vehicles and equipment with the exception of
the Fire Department. Vehicles and equipment include:
Public Works vehicles and equipment, Transit Buses,
Police Vehicles, and the City's misc. fleet of
passenger cars and trucks.
The City has 230 vehicles and about 80 to 100
misc. pieces of equipment such as mowers, edgers,
trenches and blowers.
Last year the Garage
staff responded to 240 emergency road calls,
performed 285 preventative maintenance repairs,
converted 10 police units, accomplished 200 brake
jobs, accomplished 130 transmission services, and
made over 300 specialty repairs.
