Applications must be received in the Human Resources Office by the established deadline stated on the job bulletin. Resumes may be attached to the completed application form, but a resume will not be accepted in lieu of an official application form.  Applications must be completed in sufficient detail and clarity to permit a comprehensive review/evaluation. Submitting an incomplete application may result in removal from consideration in the examination process. All statements made on the application are subject to verification. EMPLOYMENT BENEFITS:
Retirement: Benefits are provided through the Public Employees' Retirement System of the State of California. Safety 3% @ 50 and general 2.7% @ 55.
Health Insurance: Employees are provided with a choice of two plans (Kaiser-Permanente and City Self-Insured). Presently, the City contribution rate covers the entire cost for the employee and dependents
Dental Insurance: Employees are provided with a choice of two plans; Delta Dental which allows for the selection of a private dentist, or Safeguard Health Plan, Inc., a panel of dentists. Orthodontia is covered under both plans. The City contributes a portion of the premium for employees and dependents.
Life Insurance: A life insurance policy is provided at no cost to the employee.
Direct Deposit: The City has implemented a direct deposit system for payroll. All new employees are required to have a qualified bank/savings and loan/credit union or other account which will accept the automatic deposit.
Tuition Reimbursement Tuition related to career development may be reimbursed at the rate of tuition charged at California State University - L.A. and California State University Long Beach.
