Notice is hereby given that a Public Hearing will be held by the City Council of the City of Downey on Tuesday, February 27, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., or soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Council Chamber of Downey City Hall located at 11111 Brookshire Avenue. At the public hearing, consideration will be given to adopt a proposed resolution adopting the City’s 2015 Urban Water Management Plan.  At that time and place all persons interested in this matter may be present to give testimony to the City Council for or against adoption of the proposed resolution. 

If you challenge the proposed actions in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the City Clerk at, or prior to, the public hearing.  Draft copies of the City’s 2015 Urban Water Management Plan are available for review at the Public Works Department counter and City Clerk’s office at Downey City Hall, 11111 Brookshire Avenue, Downey, California 90241, during normal business hours (M-F, 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.), the Downey City Library, 11121 Brookshire Avenue, during regular Library hours, and on the City’s website.  If you have questions, please call the Public Works Department Utilities Division at 562-904-7110.

4/20/2015 Closure of Dollison Drive (between Quinn Street and the southbound I-5 on-ramp)
During the week of April 27, crews will permanently close Dollison Drive (between Quinn Street and the southbound I-5 on-ramp) and the southbound I-5 freeway on-ramp on Dollison Drive. Finally, a long-term (approximately three year) closure of the southbound I-5 on-ramp on Florence Avenue is scheduled to begin the week of April 27

3/10/2014 I-5 Freeway Widening Project

The final phase of the I-5 Freeway Widening Project between the SR 91 and the I-605 Freeways,otherwise known as Segment 5, which includes the portion of the freeway between the Norwalk city boundary and Florence Avenue but the work will actually extend north of the I-605 Freeway in order to properly transition with the existing travel lanes. The project involves the widening of the I-5 Freeway from eight to ten lanes and the replacement of the Florence Avenue overcrossing with a new bridge. In addition, Florence Avenue will be reconstructed between Studebaker Road and Orr and Day Road. The overall project duration is approximately 30 months. Please be advised that Florence Avenue will remain down to one to two lanes per direction for approximately 24 months. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Caltrans has designated Firestone Boulevard as the eastbound detour route and Telegraph Road and Slauson Avenue as the westbound detour routes.
